March 2020 Orlando Trip Details

Dear Parents,

     It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the 2019-2020 Music Department Trip. We will be traveling to Orlando, Florida for several exciting days of music education and competition.  We will depart from Whitman on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 25th and will be returning on Sunday March 29th.  Students will be excused for 2 days of classes, Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th.   The following ensembles will be traveling: Chamber Choir, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, Treble Chorale, Concert Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble. The total cost of the trip is $900.00 and includes:

 

  • 2 Nights Deluxe Lodging at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort   Orlando, Florida
  • Round-trip Deluxe Motor Coach Transportation
  •  All-Inclusive Meal Plan (Wednesday-Sunday)
  • Participation in the “Music USA Festival” Competition including Awards Ceremony at Universal.  

 

  • Three-Day/Two Park, Park to Park Admission to Universal Orlando Resort including Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure
  • Breakfast Buffet and time at The HUB upon arrival in Orlando
  • Whitman Music Department T-Shirt
  • Private Security Guards for each evening at the Hotel
  • $5,000,000.00 Liability Insurance Coverage

 

 

We are confident that the students will greatly benefit from the educational experience and personal growth derived from traveling and performing.  Our students will have the opportunity to compete on a national standard with other high school ensembles from across the United States and receive critiques and ranking from leading conductors and music educators.  In addition, our students’ music education will be enhanced through their participation in workshops and performances at Universal Studios.   Student travel is a valuable experience that contributes to personal growth, discipline and responsibility.  Traveling together, performing music, and competing makes high school music education complete.

     It is extremely important that everyone complies with our payment schedule for this trip and returns all required forms in a timely manner.  Please note the following payment schedule:

First payment of $225- September 20, 2019

Second payment of $225 – October 18

Third payment of $225- December 13

Final payment of $225 – January 17, 2020

There are scholarship funds available through our music boosters.

           Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations made after February 1, 2020 are 100% Non-refundable

A general information meeting will take place late February or early March to answer any questions you might have regarding the trip.  Together with the parent booster organizations we have worked hard to optimize the financial, educational and social values to be gained from this trip.  As always, thank you for your continued support and encouragement for your child’s music education.
