Instrumental Music Boosters

The Instrumental Music Boosters Club includes all parents of students in the instrumental music program at Whitman. The Boosters Club provides administrative assistance as well as help with festivals, concerts and the music awards night. It also sponsors limited fundraisers. There is a niche for every parent who wishes to become involved. It is a terrific way to get involved and to feel connected to Whitman and the Instrumental Music Department. It is also a marvelous vehicle to get to know other parents. 

The Boosters Club holds only two meetings each year to discuss upcoming events and gain parent input on activities; all parents are invited to these meetings.

Additionally, the Boosters Club sponsors a yahoo group to provide parents and students with timely information about the instrumental music department. You can join the WhitmanInstrumental listserv by clicking here.

Volunteer Positions - Parents are invited to volunteer for any number of committee chair positions and/or to help out with one of the many events sponsored by the Boosters Club during the year. A list of this year's committee co-chairs is provided here.

Boosters Club Events

Garden Party

The Whitman Music Garden Party is an annual highlight for families in the music program. In addition to being the most important fundraiser of the year, it is a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and meet new ones, while being entertained by some of our own Whitman students. The Garden Party is usually held in the fall at the home of a Whitman family.

Winter Concert Reception

A short reception is held in the school cafeteria immediately following the Winter Concert. The event is planned by the Boosters Club as a small way of showing the students appreciation for how much effort they've put into their music.

Music Awards Night

Whitman’s Instrumental Music Awards night is held in late spring, shortly before the end of the school year. Students are treated to a buffet dinner. Following the dinner, parents are invited to watch the awards ceremonies. In addition to the prestigious awards for outstanding members of band, orchestra, and jazz, many other recognitions are given to students in all grades.
