Upcoming Whitman Music Events
This exciting event will take place Wednesday, February 21 at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. Our advanced ladies (Women’s Chorus) will combine with the outstanding Women’s Choruses of Clarksburg and Seneca Valley High schools for a fun filled, enriching, educational, and empowering day of social activities, workshops, clinics, rehearsals, and dinner. All of this will culminate in a gala concert in the SVHS auditorium of Seneca Valley at 7:00 pm, where each of the groups will present a set and will combine for 3 pieces.
The ladies will leave Whitman at 1:00 pm and be at Seneca Valley the entire day and evening. Please note…we will be traveling via motor coach as a group to the school in the afternoon. Parents will bring their daughters home after the concert in the evening. With the cost of buses these days, this makes so much more sense financially, as most parents will be able to take their daughters home after the event.
This special day has been a dream of mine for our students for years, and is the first of its kind in MCPS. It is important and timely for so many reasons. You will want to see this concert!
Men’s Chorus has been invited to, and will participate in this special and exciting event Saturday, February 24 at the Memorial Chapel on the campus of UMD College Park.We are one of only 2 high school groups invited (the other from Marriotts Ridge HS in Howard County.) A number of other groups from the DC region will take part, including the magnificent Washington Men’s Camerata and the UMD Men’s Chorus. Singing in a huge chorus of approximately 150 men will be an event that will be such a great experience for our guys.
The day will include rehearsals, workshops, clinics, and dinner–all culminating in a gala concert in the chapel at 8:00 pm where each group will present a set and then combine to sing 3 pieces which will be led by UMD Men’s Chorus director, Steve Kim. This is going to be an amazing and memorable experience for our gentlemen, not to mention a big honor.
The group will depart from WWHS at 1:15, and will spend the day in college . We will travel to College park via motor coach as we all need to arrive together and at the same time. I have chosen to forego the expense of the bus for the return home after the concert, as most parents will no doubt attend, and can bring their sons back home. This is one you will really enjoy and will not want to miss.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
