Walt Whitman Choral Music

Welcome to what is sure to be another successful year of choral music education and performance! As always, Mr. Davidson has exciting plans for this school year, and the Choral Music Boosters will work steadily to support these endeavors.

Your participation in music department and Music Boosters activities has a big impact on your child’s music education at Whitman. And it’s easy to keep up and get involved. Here are some simple steps to getting started:

Sign up for Choralnet. This listserv is the primary means of day-to-day communication about all things choral, including class information. At least one adult from each choral family MUST subscribe to keep informed of important class and department information. We also recommend that students sign up. To do so, send an email to [email protected] and include the student(s) name and grade, the chorus class he or she is enrolled in, and parent name(s). PLEASE NOTE: Yahoo will immediately respond with a message asking you to confirm that you want to subscribe. You cannot be added until you reply to that message (or click on the link included in that message). If you do not receive this automated message, please check your spam folder.

Visit www.waltwhitmanmusic.org and plan to return regularly. Our website features everything from the music department calendar to details on required concert attire—and everything in between. Please bookmark the site and visit it frequently.

Pay the required class fee AND your tax-deductible Music Boosters dues. The choral program depends on both the MCPS $20 mandatory class fee AND your Music Boosters dues of $100 per student to maintain the high quality of the music experience at Whitman. The mandatory class fee must be paid directly to Whitman (details on how are coming soon). Music Booster dues (and additional/alternate donations) can be paid by check or online at www.pay4schoolstuff.com. Further details are at http://waltwhitmanmusic.org/fees-donations/ and will be sent home with your student and posted on Choralnet.

Attend music events. Mark your calendars and plan to attend these important upcoming events:

  • Sept. 1: Back-to-School Night
  • Date TBD: Music Boosters Fall Meeting, 7 p.m.
  • Date TBD: Choral Music Boosters Party, 5 p.m.
